THIS year's Farnborough International Air Show will mark the launch of the Farnborough Enterprise Hub, the first in the UK to focus on the aerospace and defence sector.

Its key aim will be to build upon the south-east's long-standing reputation for technology and to create new business opportunities for a region that relies heavily on the aerospace and defence sector.

Farnborough Enterprise Hub will be officially launched on Monday, July 19, during the week-long show, by hub champion Sir Donald Spiers and James Brathwaite, the chairman of regional development agency SEEDA. The hub is the latest in a network of 20 business incubators - support units - across the south-east.

It will have responsibility for facilitating technology transfer from the region's research and development base to stimulate innovation.

The region has more than 1,000 aerospace-related companies, employing 40,000 people and generating annual turnover of £7 billion.
