SPARSHOLT show off the Tichborne Trophy after a crushing nine-wicket win over St Cross Symondians in the Winchester & District CA's knockout final at the Norman Edwards Ground. They waltzed home after St Cross had struggled to post 95-7 in 20 overs.
Alan Whitman (29) and teenager Jack Lovett (23) top-scored for St Cross, who were hard pressed to dominate spells by Mark Stone (2-18) and Ian Stuart (2-24).
St Cross fluffed a great run-out opportunity when Sparsholt openers Tim Richings and James Schofield got themselves in a first over mid-wicket mix-up.
But the pair escaped, with Richings hitting 52 and Schofield scoring 38 not out to seal a 16th Tichborne Trophy final since 1958 for luckless Symondians.
