MORE than 160 drivers and riders will gather at Gurston Down Speed Hillclimb next Sunday for the third round of the Gates of Brockenhurst Hill Climb Championship and BARC Top Ten Challenge.

Topping the bill will be Salisbury's own Karl Davison, who is a former Top Ten Challenge winner and fields his incredibly fast four litre Judd V8-powered Gould GR37 again.

Davison set the best time at Gurston's June event, accelerating to 135mph in under five seconds from the standing start!

There's bikes, too, including hill record holder Glyn Poole on his 491cc Honda CR.

As ever the man to beat is 2003 Gurston champion and current series leader Tim Stevens with his 1.8 Lotus Exige in the 2000cc marque sports car class.

Down through the various classes there's a wealth of local talent, all of them potential winners - like Mark Skeats from Southampton in a Mark 1 Ford Escort and Duncan Barnes from Totton in his rapid 1.0 Force HC.

Look out, too, for New Milton father and son Ian and Karl Chard in their 1.1 Jedi and hill sponsor Jonathan Gates from Lymington.
