THE PARENTS of Hannah Foster will today make a heartfelt plea to the Indian public to help capture the man wanted for their daughter's murder.
Hilary and Trevor Foster have travelled to India, where prime suspect Maninder Pal Singh Kohli is believed to be at large, to urge the public to turn him in.
They will face the Indian media for the first time today at a press conference in New Delhi to appeal directly to citizens in the region for information concerning Kohli's whereabouts.
As part of that appeal the couple, who are spending 11 days in the country, will also launch a dedicated independent phone line that people can call with information that might help with the inquiry.
Before they left Mr and Mrs Foster spoke of their hopes that the Indian public would respond to their appeal.
Mrs Foster said: "We feel this is the time to appeal direct to the public in India."
"I think we are asking for people to search their conscience if there is any information that they have got then they should come forward."
As reported in later editions of yesterday's Daily Echo the couple accompanied by Hampshire police officers including Det Supt Alan Betts have met with call handlers who will be manning the phone lines at a call centre in the Punjab.
In all 25 bi-lingual call handlers will be taking the potentially vital calls from members of the public using the 24-hour hotline.
Det Supt Betts said Hampshire officers had been giving advice to the call handlers on what sort of questions to ask and how the get the most information from each call.
He said: "This phone line is independent from the police as people may feel more comfortable giving information this way.
"It is something Mr and Mrs Foster have organised and we are behind exploring every option if it means bringing Kohli into custody for questioning."
After today's press conference in New Dehli the group will travel to Chandigarh to issue a second appeal.
The rest of their trip will be spent meeting with top police officials and the high commission in India to discuss the progress of the case.
Seventeen-year-old Hannah was walking home from a night out with friends on the night of March 14 when she was abducted. Her strangled body was later found on a roadside at Allington Lane, near Southampton. Kohli was identified as the prime suspect after he fled to his homeland following the discovery of the teenager's body where he has remained at large.
