Eastleigh Football Club's much-loved physio Bert Wyatt has died at the age of 72.
Typically of a man who unselfishly devoted hour after hour to the club he adored, he passed away while tidying up Eastleigh's Sparshatts Stadium clubhouse on Sunday.
Wyatt joined Eastleigh in 1991 after a spell with Pirelli General. A carpenter by trade, he put his professional skills to good use in retirement doing many repair jobs around the ground.
He also looked after the kit, took charge of the footballs and equipment and would accompany badly injured players to hospital.
Eastleigh chairman Roger Sherwood said: "Bert had blue blood running through his veins. He was what I'd call one of our 'Last of the summer wine' contingent, always helping out.
"It was usual for him to be here seven days a week doing lots of different jobs. He was a key member of the team off the field and we will all miss him dearly."
Wyatt, who lived in Eastleigh, leaves a widow, Dot, a son and a daughter.
