THE SMELL of sizzling sausages combined with the sounds of jazz at Chandler's Ford on Sunday when scores of residents crowded into the grounds of the Hiltonbury Farmhouse Pub to raise money for cancer research.
Bishopstoke butcher Les Smith, who has already scooped 80 national awards for his prize bangers, tickled the taste buds of residents attending the "Sausage Feastleigh".
It was held to raise funds for the Daily Echo-backed Macmillan Cancer Relief Appeal. The goal is to raise £1m to pay for a cancer information and support centre at Southampton General Hospital.
Cooking up the bangers was landlady of the Hiltonbury Lynne Sinker.
She said: "One of my customers died of cancer last year and we felt it would be a nice tribute to him."
Music at the event was provided by the Thornden School Wind Band and Merdon Junior School as well as the New Gateway Jazz Band.
