Chris Homer has taken over the managerial reins of Wessex League Division 2 side Blackfield & Langley following the departure of Tony Feeney.

Homer recently joined the Waterside club as Feeney's right-hand man, but he now finds himself in sole charge at Gang Warily after Feeney announced he was stepping down at a committee meeting on Monday night.

Homer has previous Wessex League experience with Totton where he had a spell as Ian Robinson's assistant.

Before that he was involved with Hedge End where, for many years, he did battle on the youth football scene with Blackfield's chairman Ian Hoare.

Hoare said: "We used to see a lot of each other from opposing dug-outs. Chris came over here originally to watch his son, Danny, and that's where his interest in the club began.

Wessex outfit Lymington & New Milton have signed midfielder Mark Clothier from neighbours Bashley.

The former Alton and Totton player made seven starts for Bash last season, but never really had the chance to find his feet in Dr Martens League football.

Linnets boss Ian Robinson said: "He's someone who needs to settle with one club for a season and cement his place at Wessex level."
