Shaun Udal called on Hampshire fans to become the county's 12th man against Middlesex Crusaders at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday.

Hampshire are back in action against a strong Lancashire Lightning side in the totesport League tomorrow.

But last night's win keeps their Twenty20 hopes alive ahead of their final Twenty20 group matches, both of which will be played at the Rose Bowl, against Kent on Tuesday, and Middlesex on Thursday.

Udal said: "Before the Sussex game I agreed that the last three games are cup finals and we've done well to win the first one but we need the support of our home crowd at the Rose Bowl next week.

"I'm sure we'll have a big crowd for the game against Lancashire on Sunday and we'll need the same on Tuesday. It's going to be a very tough game against Middlesex.

"We're fighting for our lives. We had a lot of staff down at Sussex cheering us on, which was a big support, but there's nothing better than playing in front of a big crowd at the Rose Bowl. That's what we need on Tuesday and Thursday. The crowd can be our 12th man."

Udal was full of praise for hat-trick hero Dimitri Mascarenhas last night.

He added: "Dimi again showed that he is one of the best one-day bowlers in the country and, if he's not in the provisional squad of 30 for the ICC Champions Trophy, it will be disgraceful, an outrage.

"Everyone else kept falling around Chris Adams last night and Dimi was magnificent but our batting still needs to improve.

"Nic Pothas played positive shots from ball one, which eased our nerves, and then Chris Tremlett took the initiative away from the Sussex bowlers."
