REBECCA Totterdell, a previous winner of the Basingstoke Young Musician of the Year award, will lead The Deane Sinfonia at its next concert in Basingstoke.

Rebecca is a talented violinist who is studying in Madrid with Professor Sergei Fatkouline.

Her brother Robin will be sharing the limelight, performing Arutunian's famous Trumpet Concerto.

The rest of the programme includes Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 and his overture Die Wiehe des Hauses.

The Deane Sinfonia has teamed up on this occasion with the joint choir from Basingstoke's Fairfields and Rucstall primary schools, plus St John's Primary School, led by Paul Timms.

The Deane Sinfonia is a small orchestra from Basingstoke, which puts on three concerts a year, usually joining up with a junior school choir, with proceeds going to the school concerned or a specific charity.

Conductor John Fuller works very hard, not only with the Deane Sinfonia, but also leading the Basingstoke Youth Orchestra. He is committed to promoting and producing music with local talent.

The varied programme will be performed at 7.30pm next Thursday, at All Saints Church, in Southern Road.

Tickets, costing £6, with concessions and a family ticket available, can be purchased from Tadley Instruments, Modern Music in Basingstoke, from the participating schools or on the door.

The Deane Sinfonia is always looking for new members, particularly strings. Members practice every Monday evening during term-time at the Irish Centre, in Council Road, Basingstoke.
