Sir.-Cllr Tilbury complains in his letter (Gazette, July 2) about the attitude of the borough council Conservative opposition.
Where has he been over the years? Is he so nave to think that Labour is so different?
The Independents of the past, some dead now, worked hard for the borough and did extreme work for their constituents while keeping lines of information with all the political parties. Now Cllr Tilbury has cut them off.
Most of the town was planned and built in the past. The Haymarket was saved by good people working hard, and The Anvil was created by people for the benefit of the community.
We hoped Cllr Tilbury was a free spirit to help the village of Overton keep its identity. It now appears he has joined the Labour cabal who want to concrete over southern England.
In conclusion, I would like to say that Cllr Biermann probably thinks he represents a village - that is, according to some of his voters. In reality, it is a huge estate.
-E Smith, Overton.
