FAREWELL: To Olivia, at Hair Affair, as she leaves to have her baby.

She has been looking after our hair for several years. We wish her well and look forward to seeing her and baby Doyle back in Sherfield in October.

FANTASTIC: Terry Raisborough opened her garden, White Gables, last Sunday, and the turnout was grand.

Around 250 people visited her prize-winning flower garden.

Terry said: "I'm really pleased it went so well. Thanks to all the helpers serving teas, friends who did last-minute touches to the garden and also the plant sale. We've raised a tremendous amount of money."

Not only did the garden look exquisite, but the lily fragrances were heavenly.

FOUND: A child's purse was found at the fete and it contains a small amount of money. Please call me if it's yours.

VILLAGE hall: Esme Ward, chairman of the village hall management committee, reported: "Following last Thursday's meeting, it appears that a proposal has been accepted regarding the car park, subject to confirmation on a couple of issues."

CONGRATULATIONS: To all who took part in the Race for Life.

Villagers Anne Iles and Kim Daley were among them.

Kim said: "My aunt had breast cancer but, thankfully, survived. I did it because it's such a good cause."

Sue H-D took the Brownies and said: "Everyone was very keen to do it and they've all got better and better."

Among the 5,000 runners were Anna and Emily Fearon, Katie King and Erika Maby.

INDOOR boot sale: Previously advertised for tomorrow, the boot sale has now been postponed until later in the year.
