CHALK Ridge summer fayre: Held on June 26, this was fun, in spite of the showery weather.

To interest visitors, a variety of attractions included stalls with plants, cakes, gifts, window decorations, jewellery and badge making, as well as a bouncy castle, fancy dress and games.

The Grand Draw first prize was £100. Later in the afternoon, the Wheel of Fortune was spinning continually, ensuring that many excellent prizes were won, including the first prize of £100 for ticket number 5595.

All went well, thanks to the hard work and cheerful smiles of all involved in the arrangements.

VIABLES Craft Centre fun day: This was a treat last Saturday. A visit to Centric Studio introduced visitors to wood turning, along with a display that included sun dials, crib boards, lamp standards, candle sticks and bowls.

I tried my luck at hooking a duck, while hair braiding was popular for young girls.

The ferrets looked cuddly, but it seemed best to keep a distance.

Painted pots included finger prints on plates, as well as tigers, hearts and people's names, and children learned how to make badges.

SUMMER fete: This was another enjoyable event on July 3, at the Church of Christ the King.

Visitors waited patiently to see what was on offer. They were steered into a happy mood thanks to the jazz band, which included Ron on the guitar, who, along with his fellow musicians, entertained us all.

I listened while selling books, and other stalls offered plants and cakes. Also included were face painting, tombola and guess the name of the rabbit.
