SOUTH coast radio station Wave 105 has won Commercial Radio Station of the Year in an industry awards ceremony, beating stiff competition from 280 rivals around the country.
This year's ntl awards received a record number of entries, and Segensworth-based Wave 105, was the only station outside London to make the shortlist. It beat London stations Heart 106.2, LBC 97.3 and XFM in the final round of judging to pick up the award for its entertaining and high quality programmes.
Station managing director Martin Ball said: "This is a fantastic achievement. The whole team are thrilled to pick up such a highly sought after award. It's a tribute to the tremendous effort put in by the whole team."
The win comes after the latest audience figures showed Wave now broadcasts to 381,000 adults each week, its highest number ever.
