Dave Higgins was the star as Eastleigh Mosella fished the NFA Division Two National on the Basingstoke Canal.

Eastleigh were second with 473 points and a weight of 89lb - and Higgins second in his section with 24lb 8oz of skimmers.

Diawa Trentmen won with Tipton Van Den Eynde third.

Eastleigh Mosella have now been promoted to the Division One National on the Grand Union Canal at Milton Keynes.

Their match, sponsored by the Castle Inn on Stoneham, saw a close finish. Dwayne Seed took 43lb 6oz from the top lake on Trojans bank for four carp on the pole and pellet in the shallows, with Graham Tappenden hot on his heels with 43lb 4oz from the island peg on the Bottom Lake. Ken White took third place from the bottom Lake with 34lb 6oz.

Others: Dave Self 29lb, Dave Higgins 21lb 14oz and Rich Allen 17lb 12oz.

The ladies' match, fished on the same day, was won by Teresa Porter with 5lb 7oz of silver fish on the pole and maggot, while the juveniles' match saw Matt Kita win with 17lb 7oz of carp and silver fish and Richard Self in second place with 5lb 11oz. Adam Sears won the junior match with 18lb 15oz, followed by Robert Curry with 4lb 4oz.

The weekend match on Witherington Farm's Snake Lake produced a high weight for Dave Roper, fishing peg 70 on paste for 110lb 8oz, which left him well clear of the field.

Second place was Mark Cannings on peg 92 with 79lb 8oz, third Tony Gilbert 66lb from peg 86 and fourth Mark Blake on 63lb from peg 58.

The first round of the MAP Reeds Tackle Summer League fished on Barnmoor and Sellwood Lakes saw big weights surface with Martin Rogers taking a huge 149lb 10oz bag from Barnmoor peg three on the float and pole.

Second was Lee Woodhouse on peg ten on Sellwood Lake with 112lb, third Dave Moody, from peg ten on Barnmoor for 81lb 2oz, and fourth Paul Barnard, fishing from peg two on Sellwood Lake (78lb).

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Games, fished over the weekend on Petersfield Heath Lake, saw Petersfield win with six penalty points from New Forest East, represented by TVAC, and third-placed Isle of Wight.

Alan Hillman was the individual winner with 35lb 2oz, including a 13lb 14oz common plus bream on the ground bait feeder and corn. Brian Manser was second with 24lb 7oz of bream caught on the feeder.

Cormorants fished a match on Greenridge Farm, Steve Rochester, below, taking 78lb 12oz of carp from peg 18 on Canal Two on floating baits. Joint second were Dave Sharpe and Clive Egerton on 70lb 14oz.

Others: Richard Yeo 49lb 12oz, Neil Tappin 48lb 2oz, Rick Tyson 47lb 2oz.

The last of the evening series on Hordle Lakes, fished on Long Lake, saw Chris Burgess take 33lb 14oz of carp on pellet and paste to beat Geoff Charman's 28lb 12oz of carp taken on the pole, paste and cat meat. Julian Taylor (23lb 8oz) was third and Chris Albiston (21lb 12oz) fourth. The series was won by Chris Albiston on nine points, with Chris Burgess on ten and Colin Mapstone on 14.

The Beaumont Cup match fished on Creech Pond at Wareham was a success for Ringwood angler Mick Hurst, who took 35lb to shade Simon Barber (Wimborne) on 32lb. John Bass (Christchurch) was third.

Others: Chris Albiston (Wimborne) 28lb, Anton (Wareham) 23lb, Chris Burgess (Wareham) 21lb. Teams: Wareham 84 points, Wimborne 82, Christchurch 74, Ringwood 63.

Kennet Osprey fished a match on the main lake at Broadlands with Simon Kief taking 29lb 14oz of bream on the waggler. Steve Telford came home second with 24lb 12oz of roach on the waggler.

Others: Steve Hunt (18lb 4oz of bream and roach on the pole), M Parsons (14lb 8oz of roach).
