BUILDING a Lego robot, a marble runway and a solar powered vehicle were among the challenges schoolchildren faced at a special science day at Fareham College.
Twelve 12 to 14-year-olds from eight local schools were put through their paces in the competition, which was judged by students from Southampton and Portsmouth universities.
Gosport mayor Councillor Iris Binfield presented certificates to children from Neville Lovett, Cams Hill, Henry Cort, Portchester, Crofton, Bridgemary, Broome Park and Crookham schools.
Organiser Paul Waterworth said: "The teams were mixed up from different schools so it encouraged them to work together as a team as well as helping their science.
"They all had a great time and did really well."
The winning team will go through to compete against the winners of two separate science days at Havant and Portsmouth.
