HARBOUR Lights Picture House's season of late night movies on Saturdays continues tomorrow with another cult hit David Lynch film - Eraserhead.
The 1977 film, which was both written and directed by Lynch, was his fifth movie before he went on to such projects as the hit television series Twin Peaks and movies Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart and Mulholland Drive.
Eraserhead is set in a nightmare world. The central character, Henry (Jack Nance), lives in an industrial town where factories are constantly spewing out filth and making inescapable noise.
Henry lives in a building which appears to be otherwise abandoned. For entertainment he listens to the Lady in the Radiator as she sings about heaven.
Henry's girlfriend gives birth to their child, a frightening-looking mutant, whose presence stirs things up even more.
This is David Lynch at his most surreal and may not be for everyone but fans of his skewed world view will love it.
Fans of Twin Peaks will recognise Jack Nance, who is credited as John Nance in this film, for his role as Pete Martell in the TV series and film and Charlotte Stewart, who plays Henry's girlfriend Mary X, for her role as Betty Briggs.
