A BALLOON launch to promote the Southampton Festival was grounded today because it was too windy.
About six balloons were due to brighten up the grey sky above the city this morning.
But organisers refused to let them off the ground because it was too windy. Now the continuing bad weather means the balloons are unlikely to take off until Sunday.
Christian Brown, a spokesman for this weekend's two-day event, formerly known as the Southampton Balloon and Flower Festival, said: "It looks like there will be a clear weather window on Sunday, so the balloons will take off then. We certainly won't let the weather dampen our spirits and will make sure that the festival is an amazing event.''
Southampton Festival is held on Saturday and Sunday on Southampton Common.
