Romsey Golf Club's assistant professional James Pitcher earned the biggest payday of his career when he recently won the £1,000 first prize in the Captain's Charity Pro-Am at Royal Winchester Golf Club.
The 25-year-old shot a five-under-par round of 66 to take victory by a single shot from Weybrook Park's Andrew Cloke with six players, including Richard Bland, Richard Adams, Jonathan Barnes and Russell Tate, sharing third place on 68.
Pitcher's winning round, in the largest Pro-Am tournament in the Hampshire PGA calendar, included eight birdies round the impressive Royal Winchester course.
The tournament, organised by Gerry Marsh and supported by club captain Howard Brace, raised funds for the Naomi House Children's Hospice with a raffle, auction and other donations contributing around £4,000 to the charity.
