ANDOVER leisure centre has joined hundreds of other clubs and leisure centres in a bid to get the nation active and raise thousands of pounds for charity.
Now in its 13th year, the national campaign Commit to Get Fit has introduced more than 500,000 people to the benefits of exercise and raised over £1m for charity with Andover Leisure Centre itself having raised £45,000.
This summer, the campaign will be striving to raise over £100,000 for Diabetes UK, which is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, and campaigning.
As concern about increasing obesity levels and inactivity grows, the NHS is supporting a huge national campaign this summer, Commit to Get Fit, which aims to encourage up to 100,000 people to make regular activity part of their lives.
Andover residents now have the opportunity to Commit to Get Fit at Andover Leisure. The centre opened its doors from Monday and is inviting the public in.
The campaign will last for four weeks with £25 providing four weeks unlimited use of the gym, fitness classes over the three studios, pool, health suite, badminton and squash.
