PREPARATIONS are under way for an annual entertainment extravaganza in the heart of Southampton.
Hundreds of people are expected to turn out for the St Mary's Festival on Saturday, July 10.
Among the highlights promised at the multi-cultural bash will be Turkish belly dancers, live music and a circus tent featuring magic shows.
A colourful procession along St Mary Street, led by drumming outfit Banda Bat 2K, will start the all-day free event and be joined by a succession of floats. Among other activities planned for the popular event is a mobile farm, ferret racing, story telling sessions and a tug-of-war contest.

Father Steve Hall, chair of the St Mary's Festival committee said: "The festival will be a great celebration for the whole community in the city centre, with entertainment, fun and sunshine for everyone.
Activities and entertainment is centred around St Mary's Church. Free parking is available at City College's Deanery site off Chapel Road from noon till 5.30pm during the event.
