JOHN Crockford's projected return to the British Supersport Championship never materialised.
The Southampton racer was hoping to switch to the Ekerold Honda team to deputise for the injured Cal Crutchlow, but Bridgetone Tyres wanted him to stay on in the Stamford Suzuki team to continue development work in the National Superstock Championship.
Crutchlow's ride went instead to young Scot Stuart Easton, front runner in last year's Supersport Championship but who has been having a tough time in his British Superbike Championship debut season.
Plagued by lack of grip, Crockford himself hasn't been too competitive in his return to the Superstock class, but Bridgestone's request for him to stay at Stamford Suzuki is to test a new and better tyre.
