THERE'S still time to prune the rose buses, spray the greenfly and plant out the petunias in Southampton's spectacular Southampton in Bloom competition.
Keen gardeners across the city are being invited to take part in the event which is open to residents cultivating anything from window boxes to hanging baskets. Prizes worth hundreds of pounds are being offered including seeds, tools, garden centre vouchers and many other useful garden items.
There are also trophies for winners and a certificate signed by the Mayor of Southampton for everyone who takes part.
Pubs, churches, businesses and public buildings are also eligible to enter as well as schools and businesses in the city.
There is even a photographic category. Closing date for entries is July 7. Entry forms are available from Carruthers & Co solicitors in Shirley and City Photographic in Bedford Place.
Both firms - as well as many others - are helping to sponsor the event. Alternatively, you can pick up an entry form from all Southampton City Council libraries and housing offices or by phoning 023 8083 3665.
