Sir.-What a wonderful concert at The Anvil on June 19.
The Basingstoke Symphony Orchestra have got better and better over recent years. They are now a truly professional body of players, led by conductor Stephen Scotchmer.
The soloist, a young Frenchman, Emmanuel Despax, gave an outstanding performance of Grieg's Piano Concerto in A Minor.
Congratulations to all concerned.
There was a good sized audience, but Basingstoke folk should really support this local enterprise, now in its 75th season.
-Peter Durrans, Old Basing.
