BEAT bobby: Yes, history does repeat itself.
Pc Doug Ashman has now sadly relinquished his responsibility as the Chineham beat bobby. We wish him well in his new, elevated role.
In his place, we welcome the return of Pc Ray Niblock, covering a revised beat combining Chineham and Old Basing.
Pc Niblock has assured us that he is now a true convert to cycling the beat, and this is most welcome, despite the fact that he has advised us that this will be done wearing shorts!
TREASURE hunt: Details of the annual Neighbourhood Watch treasure hunt have now been published.
The event takes place at 1.30pm for 2pm on Sunday, July 11, and commences at the Chineham Scout Hall.
As ever, the cycle ride is suitable for all members of the family, and the route embraces lanes, byways and also crosses farmland.
In addition to a great family event, there are even prizes in various classes.
ENJOY a cream tea in the vicarage garden: On Saturday, July 3, from 3pm to 5pm.
Tickets cost £2.50 and are available from Ruth in the parish office, which can be contacted on 474280. There will be a raffle and some entertainment.
DATES for your diary: On Thursday, the mobile library will be at the village hall car park from 4pm to 4.20pm.
On Saturday, July 10, it is the Friends of Four Lanes' annual summer fete at Four Lanes schools.
