REPORT: May I thank Daniel Stewart, a member of the school promotion team at Manor Field Junior School, for an interesting report explaining about a visit to the school by a group described as Learning Through Action.
Between May 24 and May 27, pupils received education on the subject of drugs. In turn, Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 studied and learned about drugs.
On the Friday, pupils were able to display their excellent work for parents to look at in a special exhibition.
Parents were invited to attend a meeting with the theme "learning through action", where they were able to find out what the children had been doing in school.
Pupils were informed about all the main drugs and how people take them. Stories were told and acted out, with pupils being involved in the drama.
Year groups each studied one main aspect of drugs, including alcoholic drinks, and golden rules were advised for future years.
The Learning Through Action group was highly recommended by the school promotion team, which considered that children in other schools would also be interested and enjoy a week of fun.
Manor Field Junior School pupils hope the action group will visit the school again soon.
The school promotion team appreciated the visit, and say that the information gained should be very useful to all of the children.
Many thanks to the team for letting me know about this worthwhile activity at the school.
