Decades of Pop, Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley, Southampton
WHILE windsurfers skimmed a choppy Solent, several thousand people basked in the sunshine and a healthy dose of nostalgia.
First up were The Drifters, an American vocal group who may not have any original members in their current line-up, but reproduced that classic harmony sound perfectly from the minute they opened with There Goes My First Love.
The Drifters followed up with over a dozen more hits in slick style, before Paper Lace took the stage to reprise some of their hits including Billy Don't Be a Hero.
From then on it was a sail through the 60s with The Swinging Blue Jeans, Marmalade, The Sweet, Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich and several other top acts.
Great sound and a warm friendly atmosphere made for over six hours of entertainment lapped up by a dancing, singing crowd. Let's hope for more Shows on the Solent.
