PUPILS and staff at a school near Winchester are celebrating after receiving a top arts award.
Perins School in Alresford has been given the Artsmark Gold by the Arts Council of Great Britain.
Up to three-quarters of Perins students choose to study at least one creative art at GCSE level. Students also have the chance to take part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities which lead to a host of concerts, productions, exhibitions and performances throughout the year.
Head teacher Janice Bernard said: "We are absolutely delighted with this award. It is a tribute to the enthusiasm of staff, students and parents at Perins School. It means that we are one of a very few schools with both Arts Mark Gold and Sports Mark Gold."
