CLASSY left-back Mark Lisk has admitted that he won't be part of Geoff Butler's new regime at Bashley.

The Hythe-based 31-year-old is out of contract with the New Forest club and has no intention of going back.

Lisk, who returned to Bash two summers ago from Basingstoke Town, had his heart set on joining Salisbury City where, until recently, one of his best friends, Tommy Killick, was assistant manager.

Killick has now left to manage Poole Town but, subject to the Whites making him a slightly better financial offer, Lisk would still welcome a move to the Isthmian Premier Division new boys.

He said: "Salisbury have offered me a deal and I'd really like to go there, but we're a bit out on the money.

"I'm not money-motivated but I've got a little girl and, if I'm signing on for two years, they've got to make it worth my while.

"We're not miles apart and, if they come up with what I want, I'd be there tomorrow.

"I'm over my knee trouble now and I feel like I'm in my prime again.

"The fact that Tommy's not at Salisbury any more doesn't put me off. I met Nick Holmes manager recently and he's a genuinely nice bloke - and the set-up there is fantastic."

Meanwhile, Eastleigh's former Bashley midfielder Taffy Richardson has tipped new boss Butler to succeed at the New Forest helm.

Richardson was made skipper of Salisbury under Butler and reckons the 57-year-old is the ideal man for the job.

He said: "Geoff is a pretty strong-minded and straight-talking character and he demands the same from his players.

"It never did me any harm and it's exactly what Bashley need.

"No matter what it takes, he gets the best out of players and he's worked wonders on limited funds before.

"If anyone can do it, he can."
