THE women's relays provided the highlight for New Forest Juniors in the National Young Athletes' League Itchen Division match at Down Grange, Basingstoke.
The quality quartet of Emily Sanderson, Hollie McManus, Fern Parker and Hazel Freary sped to a stylish 4x100 metres success in 52.2sec.
The 4x400m event was a tighter squeeze but, pushed all the way by Havant, the juniors held on to win in 4min 14.6sec courtesy of Sasha Mucci, Jody Bowers, McManus and Hayley Pointer.
Mucci warmed up for the relay with a fine 800m win, clocking 2.22.1. Pointer took the B honours in 2.25.6, while Parker scored a double sprint success in the A 100m (12.6) and B 200m.
Charlotte Bates had to settle for runners-up spot in the 3,000m (11.45.7) as did Hollie McManus in the A 200m (26.8) and Jody Bowers in the 1,500m (5.14.9).
There were third spots for Hazel Freary in the B 100m (13.9) and Laura Marzaroli, running her first 400m (66.8).
NFJ's only male representative was Pritpal Chana, who finished third in the 400m (52.7).
The juniors' next fixture is a UKA Young Athletes' meeting in Salisbury on Sunday.
Women's match result: Havant 193, Bournemouth 150, Basingstoke & Mid Hants 146, New Forest Juniors 116, City of Portsmouth 95.
