The final stages in a fund-raising marathon for the Pinder Centre will see a number of famous people being arrested.

Author and ITN correspondent Tom Bradby will be joining Winchester MP Mark Oaten, City Council leader Sheila Campbell and others in a "Jail and Bail" event on Saturday, July 3rd.

Officers from Hampshire Constabulary will "arrest" the people in Winchester High Street before sending them to jail.

They are likely to be charged with various offences, ranging from wearing offensive clothing, to not making colleagues a cuppa. It is also hoped to "arrest" a number of children, charging them with such heinous crime as not sitting up straight at the dinner table.

Only when, and if, the prisoners phone friends for "bail money" to be paid to the Pinder Centre will they be released.

The Avington-based Pinder Centre is in the final stages of raising £750,000 to add changing and handling facilities to accommodate the increasing number of disabled patients, build an extension to house a refreshment area, develop the hydrotherapy facilities and upgrade other equipment.

Pinder Centre trustee and Tom Bradby's mother, Sally, said: "We hope to raise the profile of the centre with the public and those who may wish to use the facilities."
