Longparish v Purbrook II Longparish entertained Purbrook II on Saturday and the visitors being in fourth position and having lost only once this season, a close encounter was envisaged.

This was not the case as the home side won comfortably by eight wickets.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bat first on a hard and flat pitch, losing their first wicket at 27 when the dangerous Stone was dismissed for 17.

Nickel and Thomas added 70 runs for the second wicket but after reaching 97-2 the batting crumbled like a digestive biscuit under a ton of cement.

Just 41 runs were added for the loss of eight wickets, Purbrook being all out for 138 when a total of 200 plus looked obtainable.

Ross Stewart again made an impact with figures of 5-31 from his nine overs of hostile fast bowling.

Skipper Paul Blackmore gave good support with 2-31 along with Shame Carnell 1-35 and Chris Clarke 1-25, both bowling a good line and length supported by some excellent fielding.
