The Marriage of Figaro - The Motley Crew, The Barn, Breamore House
THIS rarely performed comedy by Beaumarchais was done full justice by the performances of the Motley Crew actors.
Figaro's wedding day is beset with plotting and intrigue as the characters attempt to form liaisons, led chiefly by Count Almaviva, who has tired of his three-year marriage to Rosine.
Figaro and Susanna (his fiance) independently counterplot the Count, leading to confusion and mayhem.
Chris Williams (Count) is suitably frustrated as he was constantly outwitted by his servants, while Ros Liddiard (Rosine) plausibly forgave his foibles.
Brian Stansbridge (Figaro) chose a Derek Trotter approach to the role which caused much mirth. Catherine Blandford (Susanna) was perfect in her role of fiance beset by suitors.
Next performances are June 24th, 25th (8pm).
