Woolston Regatta on Saturday and the Mayflower Park Southampton Town Regatta on Sunday kept Hants and Dorset crews busy over the weekend.
Hypothermia was a real threat to crews waiting for the start of races at Southampton on Sunday following injury to boatman Ron Hopper.
He suffered a gash to his arm requiring 21 stitches when he slipped whilst adjusting the position of the starters' boat.
Coalporters maintained their best start for many seasons by winning the Aggregate Cambridge Bowl Trophy at Woolston with wins in the Ladies Senior and Junior Fours and in the Men's Novice Fours and Novice Sculls,.
Lymington's Alistair Keir and Peter Lock (stk) retained the Hants and Dorset Senior Pairs title for another year with wins on both days as they remained unbeaten for the season.
BTC's Senior Four look like making it another championship year with wins on both days, although a clash of oars necessitated a re-row on Sunday.
The narrowest of decisions went to Southampton's Junior Sculler Nick Johnson at Woolston when he gained his second win of the season by a foot over Gary Cure of Westover.
Itchen Sculler James Foad missed a stroke on the final run in, an error which wasn't repeated on Sunday when he won by four lengths.
