SOUTHAMPTON's Peter Waterfield found it tough going as he failed to add to this season's impressive performances, finishing outside the medals at the Super Grand Prix Final in Mexico City.
Waterfield, the 2002 Commonwealth Games silver medallist, synchro partner Leon Taylor and fellow GB stars Tandi Gerrard, Jane Smith and Mark Shipman were unable to add to their record-breaking form.
Waterfield and Taylor finished fourth in the ten-metre platform final with a score of 328.23, finishing behind Australia's accomplished pairing of Matt Helm and Robert Newbury (363.30), China's Tian Liang and Yang Jinghui (357.40), and Russia's Dmitry Dobroskok and Gleb Galperin (353.04).
Waterfield, who had fallen off his bike just days before the competition, teamed up with Shipman to finish fifth in the 3m syncho event with 296.13 points.
Taylor was second behind Canada's two-time Commonwealth champion Alxandrw Despatie.
"We didn't dive as well as I would have liked, admitted Great Britain diving performance director Steve Foley. "But it was a tough competition and we gave it a good shot.
"I know Peter and Leon can dive better. I'm very confident about our chances of success in Greece."
GB: Leon Taylor, Mark Shipman, Jane Smith (City of Sheffield) Peter Waterfield (City of Southampton) and Tandi Gerrard (City of Leeds).
