Sir.-I would like to share my thoughts on disabled parking.
I am a Blue Badge holder, so it's not that I am getting at anybody, and I also work for the NHS.
Why should parking be free for the disabled? People either work or get benefits for their disability.
Personally, I think that Blue Badge holders should pay for parking like anyone else. It's not that we need free parking - all we are after is the wider parking bay and the access.
If people have a problem with the cost, perhaps the council could install parking meters that will accept travel tokens (Blue Badge holders are issued with travel tokens). These would, of course, have to be accessible for wheelchair users.
I attend a London hospital for regular check-ups, which usually take the best part of the day. If travelling by car, parking charges range from £20 to £40, as there is very little parking available at the hospital.
