Sir.-I am very pleased to be able to report the recent presentation of a cheque for £1,760.13 to the Basingstoke branch of the Parkinson's Disease Society.
This magnificent sum was the result of the "Penny a Bag" scheme from January to April, at Sainsbury's, Kempshott.
I would like to thank the staff for choosing us as their charity for four months, the customers for their generosity, and the manager, Adrian Dean, for the work involved.
The proceeds will go towards providing services for local people with Parkinson's disease, and their carers. These include our monthly support meetings, outings etc and the provision of a community support worker to visit and advise people at home.
Further information can be obtained from our helpline on 01256 782517 or by e-mailing diannegatehouse@aol.com
-Dianne Gatehouse, Chair, Basingstoke branch, Parkinson's Disease Society.
Sir.-The Alexandra Rose Day collections, held on Saturday, June 12, at the Top of the Town, Basingstoke, and in Chineham Shopping Centre, raised £178.75.
After meeting the expenses of organising the collection, the net proceeds have been shared as follows - Limington House special needs school, £95.12, and Alexandra Rose Day Special Appeal Fund, £53.63.
I am most grateful to all who so generously contributed and to all helpers who so kindly gave of their time to make the collection possible.
-Julia Brown, PTA Secretary, Limington House School, Basingstoke.
