HELICOPTER: The landing of a Chinook helicopter on the Green last Saturday, during the fete had to be the highlight of the afternoon.
That's the verdict of Sandy Johnston, who added: "It was an immense success and the majority of comments were that the fete was the best yet."
Natalie said: "Everything went well, and we were really grateful with the extra help setting up. Thanks also to the public for leaving very little litter."
From my tea tent I saw the tug o' war, the winners of which were The Newcomers.
Everyone enjoyed the country dancing, Irish dancing and the dog show. Around the arena were stalls, wood-cutting, all sorts of activities and an animal farm.
The organisers would like to thank the sponsors and all the people who came to enjoy the events and sunshine.
WELFORD Park: NWR enjoyed a visit to this beautiful house on June 6.
Famous for its snowdrops, Welford Park is a former monastery and has fabulous gardens. The group enjoyed a tour, a walk and cream teas!
DIARY date: On Sunday, July 4, the garden of White Gables, Breach Lane, is open under the National Gardens Scheme. More next week.
