THEY were hoping all that sleepy dust would turn them into world record breakers.
For 22 Cub Scouts from the 12th Eastleigh (1st Bishopstoke) group were bidding to snooze their way into the Guinness Book of Records.
Over the weekend they were among thousands of youngsters across the UK who took part in a Giant Sleepover.
It is the first time that such a world record has been attempted and the Bishopstoke Cub Scouts had been the guinea pigs last October for The Giant Sleepover trials.
This time it was the real thing as they settled down for some shut eye at their West Drive, Bishopstoke headquarters.
There should have been plenty of weary legs because they had spent Saturday at Gilwell in Essex - the home of Scouting - taking part in an action packed activity day.
Before settling down for the night there was a series of activities including games, watching videos and tucking into a midnight feast.
As he switched off the lights, Group Scout Leader David McGregor said: "They should be absolutely shattered."
The Cub Scouts will know later whether they have dozed their way to a comfortable place in the Guinness Book of Records.
They left the scout hut at 9am yesterday to return home for some real sleep.
