STAFF from Fareham and Gosport Primary Care Trust (PCT) are taking to the road in a bid to reduce the waste of unused medicines.
The "Making the Most of Medicines" campaign aims to show how reducing medicine waste can make more money available for other local health care services.
It also gives advice to people on how to store, use and dispose of medicines safely.
Staff will join their counterparts at East Hampshire and Portsmouth City PCTs to tour Fareham, Gosport, Locks Heath, Portchester, Farlington, Portsmouth, Hayling Island, Waterlooville, Petersfield and Havant throughout June and July.
They hope to encourage patients to think before they order medicines, tell their doctor or nurse if no longer taking a medicine and take unwanted medicines back to the pharmacist for safe disposal.
Sue Mills, head of medicine management at East Hampshire PCT, said: "Many people are not aware that if a medicine is ordered but no longer needed by a patient it cannot be re-used, even if returned to the pharmacy unopened.
"We would like to encourage people to continue to return unused medicines to their local pharmacist for safe disposal but we also want people to talk to their doctor or nurse if they feel they no longer need their medication."
