TOTALLY Tennis Greenacre head coach Jason Jokhoo laid down the gauntlet to his former club, challenging his colleagues and players at Totally Tennis Basingstoke to an adult tournament.
The event, held last Saturday at Greenacre in Newbury, attracted 24 players, 12 from each club, who were mixed up and competed in two boxes.
After each match, players swapped partners within their box, collecting points on an individual basis as they went.
After two hours, each player had competed in five matches, and with all the points calculated, the host club was victorious, with two of their players winning each box - Steve Thompson with a total of 25 points and Dave McGuire with 23.
Both runners-up were also Greenacre players - Jill Bowyer with 22 points and Chris Birch with 21.
The event, which was followed by a sit-down meal, proved to be a great success, forging sporting and social links between the two tennis clubs.
Jokhoo said: "It was fantastic to get the two clubs together. I was pleased that so many people played, and everyone really enjoyed themselves.
"With a 4-0 victory to Greenacre, we can't wait to head to Basingstoke for the next event!"
The challenge continues when the Basingstoke club host the next event, hoping that playing on home soil will give them the advantage next time!
