POLICE have issued a warning after two schoolgirls were approached by a man who told them to get into his car.
The girls, aged seven and eight years old, were walking along Burgess Road in Swaythling, on Thursday afternoon at about 4.30pm when a man told the pair to get into his car or he would call the police.
Both girls were extremely frightened by the man, who was described as elderly with a tanned completion and who had balding grey hair.
The two girls ran into a nearby Alldays store where they stayed for five minutes before walking home.
Police are now hunting a man fitting the description who is thought to have been driving a dark saloon car.
A police spokeswoman said: "We would urge people to take extra care in this area and ask anyone with information to come forward."
Anyone with information can contact Bitterne CID on 0845 045 4545.
