OASIS are famous for their veneration of the Beatles. If name-dropping John Lennon at every opportunity wasn't enough, they've forged a direct link with the most famous band ever by recruiting Zak Starkey - son of Ringo - as their new drummer.
The Gallagher brothers are live in action at the Poole Lighthouse this week, when the rock legends play a one-off warm-up gig ahead of their set at the Glastonbury Festival a week later, where they will be headlining.
Oasis have been making music - and hitting headlines - for more than ten years. Their debut album DefinitelyMaybe was released in 1994 and spawned a clutch of red-hot singles. Since then frontmen Noel and Liam Gallagher have rarely been out of the public eye.
Their latest album, Heathen Chemistry, the title of which Noel took from a T-shirt he bought in Ibiza, was released in 2002 and got to number one in the British album charts.
They've kept a lower than usual profile for the past couple of years, which makes their re-emergence in Poole even more special.
Supporting Oasis at the Lighthouse are Isle of Wight band The Bees.
Poole Lighthouse, Wednesday. SOLD OUT!
