BOURNEMOUTH'S Mark Hargreaves won the 2004 Braishfield Beer race, a 2.5m event which consisted of a two-lap course along undulating countryside.

It is called the Beer Race because traditionally runners are offered a free pint of beer (or soft drink) at the finish.

Hargreaves' winning time of 26.53 was a good effort for the course in hot weather.
