TWO tiny new residents are causing a bit of a flap at Paultons Park.
A purple glossy starling, pictured inset above, and a spectacle owl are the latest birds to join the 1,000 already at the leisure park - and they are demanding round-the-clock attention.
The starling, which hatched on June 1 is being hand reared by bird keeper Dan Dibden. He has to feed the tiny bird, whose sex has not yet been determined, with a syringe every two hours.
Eventually, the tiny creature will join its mum and dad and two other youngsters, hand-reared last year, in the main garden aviary.
The four-week-old owl is being hand-reared by the park's livestock manager Geoff Masson, but this bird's favourite food is mice, which he gets to gobble up every four hours.
"Unfortunately I have to do the early morning and evening feeds for both birds," said Geoff.
