TEAM Solent edged out local rivals Southampton City in the National Young Athletes' Southern Division 1 West match at the Sports Centre.
West London visitors Ealing, Southall & Middlesex comfortably topped the four-team pile, leaving the local clubs to battle it out for second place.
Solent finished 12 points clear of Southampton - a satisfying result considering they had only 11 girls available to cover 65 events because of clashes with the Southern Women's League.
Of those 11, two managed A-string victories - Chelene Coetzer in the high jump (1.53) and Vicky Kimber in the shot (7.53).
Ian Wood was one of the heroes of the Solent's men's section, pulling off an A-string field treble in the under-17 shot (12.41), hammer (35.93) and discus (31.40).
Other A-string Solent winners:
Kieron Lakeland (under-17 400m, 53.7), Chris Hamp (under-17 3000m, 10.29.7), Matt Warwick (under-17 400m hurdles, 77.3), John Slade (under-17 1500m steeplechase, 5.14.5), Jacob Lewis (under-17 javelin, 41.00), under-17 men's 4x100m relay (Lewis Townsend, Jacob Lewis, Gareth Price, Kieron Lakeland, 46.8), Harpal Chana (under-15 shot, 9.61 and discus, 29.88), under-13 boys' 4x100m relay (Stuart Anderson, Alex Phylis, William Dunnett, Simon Price, 58.5).
One of the highlights for Southampton City was a double first in the under-13 girls' 150m sprint - Kellie Porter winning the A-string in 22.4 and Alisha Parnell zipping to a personal best in the B event.
Kathryn Webb also celebrated a pb of 5.92 in under-13 girls' shot, earning second place.
City's under-15 girls continued their fine season with Lizzie Dunn winning both the discus and javelin and Rebecca Gough managing two pbs in the B long jump and high jump respectively.
Jo Kelly (1500m), Louise Webb (800m) and Michelle Hallet (long jump) were all A-string winners.
Sally McGrandle took a quick break from exam revision to win both the under-17 300m and long jump, Sasha Mucci led the 1500m girls home and there was friendly family rivalry in the 200m and 800m, where Lucy Bowers pipped sister Jodie in both events.
For Southampton's boys there were wins from Harry Fisher and Joe Whelan (under-13 A/B 1500m), Oliver Summers (under-15 800m), Rob Dunn (under-17 high jump, 1.65), Dean Wilson and Mark Ingram (under-17 A/B triple jump).
Winchester & District AC finished fourth overall but the cathedral city club were untouchable in the under-13 boys' sprints, where Kieran Showler-Davis whizzed to a 100/200m double (13.2/27.0)
Match result: Ealing, Southall & Middlesex 354, Team Solent 276, Southampton City 264, Winchester & District 143.
