Jamelia, Southampton Guildhall

WITH three costume changes, four dancers and a quartet of musicians, Jamelia set out to impress on her first tour.

An audience of predominantly young fans screamed at their first glimpse of the R&B star as they saw her silhouetted shape appear through muslin drapes.

Slowly walking from one side of the stage to the other in a very revealing slinky black dress, Jamelia opened with Thank You.

Jamelia is still very young and inexperienced and lacks stage presence, and the gig did need dancers to give her act more of a visual effect.

Some of the dance routines did not fit too well with the songs, producing a rather over-the-top cabaret effect.

But the audience loved it, particularly going wild when she changed into a sparkling silver glitter cocktail dress to close with Superstar, the song they had all come to hear.
