SAINTS midfielder Anders Svensson is expected to start for his country against Bulgaria in Lisbon tonight.
Both countries reached the semi-finals of the 1994 World Cup but have failed to make much of an impression since.
Svensson has shaken off the injury he picked up while playing for Saints at Charlton on the final day of the Premiership season.
The St Mary's ace was one of his country's brightest stars in the World Cup two years ago, scoring a superb free-kick which eliminated Argentina in the group stages.
But all Swedish eyes will be on Celtic's prolific striker Henrik Larsson, who is the team's main attacking threat.
He will partner Ajax striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic with Svensson, Arsenal's Freddie Ljungberg and Rennes youngster Kim Kallstrom - who was linked with Saints last summer - in an attack-minded midfield.
Aston Villa defender Olof Mellberg is Sweden's only injury concern with a long-standing Achilles injury problem.
