Sir.-I write further to the letter in last Friday's Gazette, from S Brown, regarding the cost of the all-in-one ticket for the steam show and Milestones museum.

I too was extremely disappointed at the cost of the ticket as we would have loved to have gone, and taken our disabled son, who loves all things steam.

We have visited the museum on several occasions with our daughters, and our son has been there with his school, but he is autistic and is unable to appreciate the museum as an ordinary visitor.

Trips have to be simple, enjoyable for him and planned in great detail. We would not have been able to do both.

In The Gazette on Tuesday, June 1, the curator was quoted as saying "It's a great day out for the family". I would be interested to know why families, such as mine, should be excluded from the event when it should surely be made available to everyone?

I have e-mailed my query to the museum, via its website, and await a reply.

Sir.-Following S Brown's letter in last Friday's Gazette, I wonder, if Milestones offered season tickets at £15 per person or £30 per family, would they get more locals and others visiting more often?

We could visit events such as the steam fair and pop back in to the museum with the children several times to look at different parts of the huge complex.

National Trust and English Heritage do it - why not Milestones?
