IT MIGHT not be the most popular job in the world.
Slapping tickets on windscreens does not make you the motorist's best friend but at Eastleigh they are queuing up to be parking attendants.
In October the town centre will be blitzed by a team of traffic wardens who will be taking over dishing out parking tickets from the police.
The council has just placed an advert in the Daily Echo for up to 14 full-time parking attendants.
And it has already triggered off a stampede to snap up the jobs. More than 100 job packs have been sent out following requests from potential applicants.
A council spokesman said: "The council has not experienced difficulty in recruiting or retaining parking attendants in the past. The interest in the current posts is high."
