PAUL STURROCK'S former assistant manager at Plymouth Argyle is joining Saints.
Plymouth chairman Paul Stapleton this morning confirmed that Kevin Summerfield is poised to move to St Mary's on July 1 as one of two first team coaches - Steve Wigley being the other.
Former first team coach Dennis Rofe will take charge of the reserves next season with Wigley, who assisted Sturrock in 2003/04, continuing as Academy director.
Summerfield was Sturrock's right-hand man during his time at Home Park - their partnership beginning in October 2000.
The 45-year-old Midlander was appointed caretaker manager at Plymouth once Sturrock joined Saints in early March.
He had nine games in charge, winning three, drawing three and losing three.
During his playing career, which spanned 321 league appearances, plus 63 as a sub, Summerfield scored 71 goals for West Brom, Birmingham, Walsall, Cardiff, Plymouth, Exeter City and Shrewsbury Town. On finishing his playing career with the Shrews, Summerfield returned to Plymouth as youth team manager.
Defensive co-ordinator John Blackley, who worked with Sturrock at St Johnstone, Dundee and Plymouth, will NOT be coming to Saints.
